Bertha M. Schelling, cherished mother, beloved sister, and a loyal friend who was known affectionately to all as MeMe, passed away this Sunday morning in the loving care of Highland Care Center, with her son and daughters constantly at her bedside. She was born on October 17, 1909 in Bemidji, Minnesota to William and Dora Dandliker. She was the fourth of seven children and the oldest daughter.

Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Schelling of Bellingham; her three older brothers, Walter Dandliker of Bellingham, Lloyd Dandliker of Mt. Vernon, WA, and Ted Dandliker of Nampa, ID; and younger sister, Clara Beckedahl of Sherwood, ND. She is survived by her three children; daughters, Marlene Wallbom of Bellingham, and Patsy Richards and husband Maurice of Bellingham; son, Don Schelling and wife Patricia, also of Bellingham, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two younger sisters, Mae Chesrown of Bellingham, and Claudia Skordal and husband Henry of Springdale, AR; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of her life in a memorial service on Thursday, February 24th at 1:00 PM in the Garden Street United Methodist Church where she was a member for many years. Interment will be a private service in the family plot at Greenacres Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to the Garden Street United Methodist Church, 1326 N. Garden St, Bellingham, WA 98225.
