Mrs. Lizetta Ott Hafen, 80, widow of Jacob Hafen and a Gold Star mother, died Wednesday from heart trouble and ailments incident to old age.
Mrs. Hafen was born in Unterionvenhart, Zurich, Switzerland, March 1, 1852, and emigrated to Utah in 1871, after conversion to the L. D. S. faith in her native land.
She was married in the endowment house in Salt Lake in the autumn of 1872. Mr. Hafen, a Black Hawk Indian war veteran, died fifteen years ago. Mrs. Hafen was a Relief Society teacher forty-five years. She was a member many years of the North ward choir and also sang in the pioneer German choir.
Her youngest son, Jacob Hafen, died in France during the world war. She is survived by a son and three daughters; Emil Hafen, Mrs. Herman Beck, Mrs. Bruce Seely and Mrs. J. J. Johnasen, Mt. Pleasant; forty-two grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, two sisters; Mrs. Jacob Kunzler, Rosette; Mrs. Jacob Bigler, Park City.
