Ralph Weber, 100, of ­Garden Spot Village, New Holland, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012. He was born in Brecknock Twp., Lancaster County, the son of the late Jacob B. and Anna Gehman Weber. He was the youngest of ten children.
He and his wife, Elizabeth (Wolf) Weber, would have been married 72 years on December 25th. Surviving are three children, Linda, wife of William Hissner of Lebanon, Lee of Philadelphia, and Lucy J. Mannix, wife of Paul Dell of Lancaster; two granddaughters; two great grandsons; and a brother, Clayton Weber of Oley.
Ralph was a graduate of Terre Hill High School in 1930, McCann School of Business and the Univ. of Penna. Evening School of Accounts and Finance.
He lived in New Holland for 47 years, working for Sperry New Holland, now CNH, for 30 years as Controller and Audit Manager and retired in 1975 as Div. Director of Internal Auditing for Sperry (now part of Unisys).
Ralph was active in the Evang. United Methodist Church, New Holland, and served on Borough Council and was the first president of the New Holland Community Park Association and was involved in building the bowling alley, Blue Ball Bowl (now Blue Ball Lanes).
While in Reading, he had studied voice and appeared as tenor soloist in several Reading churches and the Reading Choral Society. He also sang with three older brothers for Senior Citizens Groups and churches - they were listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for singing together 70 years.
Ralph was a CPA and had been a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Natl. Assoc. of Accountants and the Lancaster Chapter of NAA (now IMA) and the Phila. Chapter of the IIA.
While living in Lancaster for 21 years, he was a member of Covenant U.M. Church where he served on various boards and committees. He also served on the boards of directors of Lancaster YMCA and the Lancaster Guidance Center.
Ralph traveled extensively, driving with his wife Elizabeth through all 50 states and visiting over 40 foreign countries, including six Summer Olympics. He had been a member of Lancaster Country Club and enjoyed playing golf.
He supported his churches and charities, and his final donation was his body to the Penna. Medical Society for anatomical study, if needed.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service in the Chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland on Thursday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. with the Chaplain Chet Yoder officiating. The family will visit with friends and family from 10-11 a.m. Donations may be made to the Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557.
