Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Jo Rice, age 83 of Lineville, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Rice passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at her home. A native of Clay County and a former resident of Atlanta, GA; Orlando, FL and Winter Park, FL, Mrs. Rice was a professional nurse. She had worked at the Orlando General Hospital and Lakeland Hospital, as well as at several doctors’ offices in the area. Mrs. Rice and her husband Bobby returned to settle in Clay County in 1981 where she became active in organizing hospice care groups. Betty was a faithful and active member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Rice; one son, Rodney Rice (Leigh Ann); three sisters: Ruby Dewberry (Benny), Helen Robertson and Lola Moore; two grandchildren: Brooke Maund and Andrew Rice; two great-grandchildren: Savannah and Summer Maund, all of Lineville. Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by her parents: Clyde Everett Dingler and Janie McDonald Dingler.

Pallbearers will be James Carter, Russell Dewberry, Lamar Dewberry, Mike Pogue, Dennis Thompson and Mike Thompson.

The family will receive friends at Pine Grove Baptist Church on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M.

The family requests no flowers; however memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Clay County, P.O. Box 1240, Ashland, AL 36251.
