Anna Marie Hensley, 83 year old Woodward resident, died in her sleep at her home on Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Anna Marie was born near May, Oklahoma on April 1, 1931. She never missed a chance to tell us she was an April Fools Day baby.

She attended the May schools before moving with her mother Florence Seals to Woodward as a young teenager. As a senior in high school she went to work at Hunter’s Cleaners where she met her future husband and lifelong companion Ted Hensley.

She was married to Teddy Eugene Hensley on August 28, 1949, and just recently celebrated their 65th Anniversary prior to his death in November. Anna Marie and Ted made their home in Woodward for most of the 65+ years, with only a short time away for a job in Denver, Colorado and then a few years in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. They then returned to Woodward in 1960 and soon after joined the Church of the Nazarene, where they attended faithfully. Anna Marie was an active and loyal member and served the Lord, by playing the piano, the organ or later in life singing as a member of the choir. She was active in World Missions and was Coordinator for Reading Books as well.

Anna was blessed with four children, Julia (Farrell), Richard, Ronald, and Diana (Mingus).

As the children grew, Anna worked outside the home at Fruit of the Loom, Trego’s Western Wear Factory, the Bank of Woodward, and served as Receptionist for the Red Cross office. She always made time and did anything she could to care for grandkids and her great-grandkids. She had a passion for sewing and took pride in making clothes for herself and others...and many, many quilts.

Anna Marie was preceded in death by her Mother, Florence Seals; two children, Julia Farrell and Richard Hensley and most recently on November 10th the Love of her Life, Teddy Hensley.

Anna Marie is survived by one son, Ron Hensley, Sr. and wife Lisa of Birmingham, Alabama; one daughter, Diana Mingus of Woodward; a Son-in-law, Joe Farrell of Woodward; seven Grandchildren, Jeffery Farrell and wife Danylle of Collinsville, Bryan Farrell and wife Michelle of Woodward, Christina Farrell, of Mooreland, Ron Hensley, Jr. and wife Dr. Kelley of Rogers, Arkansas, Randy Hensley and wife Shannon of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Jennifer White and husband Drake, and June Mingus of Woodward. She is also survived by two additional Step-Grandchildren, Corey Ewing and Candance Harwood of Alabama, and joys of her life, 17 Great-Grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Woodward Church of the Nazarene, with burial to follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
