Phyllis Hope Cobbs passed into eternal life on Feb. 14, 2014 at her home in Pardeeville.

She was born on August 11, 1921 in Rockcreek Township, Wells County, Indiana, to Thomas and Lavada Perl (Penrod) Falk.

She graduated from Rockcreek High School. She married Harold V. Cobbs of Bluffton, Indiana, on August 31, 1941. During World War II, she worked at G.E. and Farnsworth Electric in Fort Wayne, In. Phyllis and Harold moved to Baraboo in 1945, then to Lodi in 1946. They were dairy farmers, and they were both devoted to each other, their family, and their faith in God.

Their children included Larry, J. Steven, Ann and Alice. Phyllis was a homemaker, who skillfully and lovingly made a comfortable home, complete with produce from her garden, delicious meals and baked goods, and clothes for the whole family. She was a teacher, both in 4-H and Sunday School, but also by example, sharing her wisdom and encouraging worthy character traits in those closest to her. Phyllis enjoyed beauty wherever she found it, in the covered bridges from Wells County, in the purring of her cat, or in the smile of a great-grandchild running to jump in her lap. She was an expert seamstress, making clothes or furnishings for any occasion. She took oil painting lessons with her grandson James. She took rosemaling lessons with Alice. Phyllis had a warm sense of humor, and especially enjoyed joking with Steve. When her health declined, she was cared for by Alice for several years. Agrace Hospice was much appreciated during Phyllis' final months.

Phyllis is survived by a sister Janice and brother-in-law (Ray Berry), a brother Dale (Butch), Larry, Ann (Jerry Carncross), Alice (Scott Nelson), eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Steve, brother Thomas (Bud), several brothers- and sisters-in-law, and husband Harold.

Funeral services are planned for Feb. 18 at Dekorra Lutheran Church, N3099 Smith Road, Poynette, at 2 p.m., with visitation an hour prior. Burial will be at Arlington Prairie Cemetery. This cemetery adjoins the farm that Phyllis and Harold owned for many years. Harold and Steve are also buried there.
