Actor. He was born as Alfonso Serrano Anido on December 30, 1959 at a known downtown hospital in the city of Manila. Prior to his acting career he was also a model. He had made several modeling stints for tv commercials, fashion shows and magazine ads. Upon entering the film business, he was included in the first batch of the "Regal Babies", a title given to the fresh artists produced by Regal Films, a top Philippine production company. He made his film début on the 1980 daring movie Nympha playing as a fire eater on a carnival. However, his most famous role came when he was casted as a virgin stowaway named Alfredo on the 1980 Filipino cult classic Temptation Island. The film that is considered campy by many highlighted the young actor's career which furthermore led him to star on several more flicks credited upon his name. Among his female co-stars he was famously linked with then young actress Dina Bonnevie to whom he shared several movies together like Temptation Island (1980), Katorse (1980), and Blue Jeans (1981). Academically, he completed his primary and the early part of his secondary education at the Ateneo De Manila University. He eventually went abroad to study and finished his remaining high school years at a California public school as an AFS scholar. In college, he came back to Ateneo and took up a management course. However, on the night of December 30, 1981, the day of his 22nd birthday, the young actor who is in the height of his career died of a gunshot wound in his home at Bel-Air Makati City. Up to this day, his death remains controversial due to its nature and the circumstances that surrounds it. His funeral was attended by his family, friends, colleagues and fans. Decades after his death, his reputation as a matinée idol lives on and is considered by many as one of the most beautiful face that ever graced the Philippine silver screen.
