Funeral services for Emma Lou Stafford Means, 84, of the Ararat Community will be held Saturday, January 3, 2014 at 2 P.M. at the Storehouse Worship Center in Butler with Rev. Jon Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Marvin Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 12 until 2 P.M. prior to the service.

Mrs. Means passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Rush Hospital in Meridian. She was born June 30, 1930 in Choctaw County, Alabama. She was a retired dispatcher for the Butler Police Department.

Survivors include her children Emma Louise Mazingo of Toxey; Jacqualyne Gibson (Mark) of Toxey; Wilma Mazingo of Toxey; Deborah Herles of Toxey; Marcia Turner (Martin) of Needham; Ted Mazingo of Toxey; and William Means of Marietta, GA; brother William Edison Stafford of Fayetteville, TN; sisters Faye Joyce Singletary (Martin) of Fayetteville, TN; and Carol Jean Whitted (Bobby) of Fayetteville, TN; 25 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; and 19 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Edison Means and Maudie Lou Wallace Means; her husband James E. Means; her sons Joseph Elliott Mazingo and Jimbo Means; her brothers Noah Jefferson Stafford and Thomas Elliott Stafford; her sisters Marie Anderson, Cora Sue Mazingo, and Elsie Laverne Thompson; and five grandchildren.
