Michael Ralph Brinkmeier, 57, of Freeport, was called home by the Angels on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at the Veteran Administration Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Born February 3, 1957, in Savanna, Illinois; he was the son of Dean and Donna (Cox) Brinkmeier. Michael was a graduate of Stockton High School. Michael worked for Mytec, Vintners, and Swiss Colony Inn. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a member of Crossroads Community Church. Surviving is his mother, Donna Borchers of Freeport; his father, Dean Brinkmeier of Detroit, Michigan; one son, Erich Brinkmeier of Freeport; his fiancée, Colleen Artz of Freeport; his sister, Janet (Keith) Kiefer of Rockford; his brothers, Jeff (Sue) Brinkmeier of San Antonio, Texas, Steve (Margo) Brinkmeier of Stillman Valley, Illinois and Terry Brinkmeier of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Norman Borchers and one sister, Loretta Saunders. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014, at Crossroad Community Church. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, in the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at Crossroad Community Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
