Lydia R. Gordon, 93, of Omaha, NE, formerly of Sioux Falls, died January 15, 2009 in Omaha, NE.

Lydia Rose (Getz) Gordon was born on September 3, 1915 in Colome, South Dakota to John Jacob Getz and Henrietta (Eisenbraun) Getz. She graduated from Colome High School in 1933.

She was united in marriage with Maurice Benton Gordon in 1934. They lived in Chester, South Dakota for five years where their daughter, Gloria was born in 1935. They moved to Tacoma, Washington during the war years and moved back to Chester and then to Sioux Falls, where their son, Doug, was born in 1947.

She was employed as the credit manager and office manager for the Greenfield Clinic for 26 years. After retirement from the clinic, she was employed at Western Bank for three years. Lydia was past president of Credit Women International, past president of South Dakota Medical Assistants and a member of the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce – women’s division. She was the financial secretary at Faith Baptist Fellowship for 14 years.

Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice; a son, Douglas A. Gordon; a son-in-law, Ron Leiferman; and a great grandson, Eric Douglas Leiferman. Also preceding her in death were her brother, John Getz and her two sisters, Meda Brazda and Ella Reese.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria G. Leiferman; six grandchildren, John (Karen) Leiferman, Joseph (Deana) Leiferman, Leigh (Ken) Heinze, James (Amy) Leiferman, Jeffrey (Angie) Leiferman and Amy (Allen) Frisbie; and 15 great grandchildren.

Memorial services will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Miller Funeral Home, Main Avenue location. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Chester, SD.

Memorials may be directed to the Union Gospel Mission, 701 East 8th Street, in Sioux Falls.
