MALLOY, Marlene (Mardee), age 82, passed away in her home on December 28, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was able to share her final Christmas with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren ~ spending special time with each one. Mardee was born on January 24, 1932 in Ames, Iowa. Sixty-three years ago she moved to Michigan to begin her new life as a wife and mother. Mardee's greatest joy in life was being a mother. She built a solid foundation of morals, values and traditions that will continue for many generations to come. Throughout the years Mardee touched the lives of many. She was a true friend to all. Her ability to comfort and care went far beyond her family. Mardee enjoyed life's blessings to the fullest. She loved reading a good book, going to the movies, playing Scrabble and Dominoes, and taking an occasional trip to the casino. She shared her passion for flowers and gardening ~ each spring brought a rebirth of color and beauty. She especially enjoyed the search for antiques and collectibles, perusing flea markets with zest. She was always on a mission to find a great deal, and looked forward to her "Fun Day Wednesdays" where she could spend hours shopping for her next "treasure".
Mardee is survived by her husband John Malloy; her children Debbie (Jeff) Brewer, Mike (Maria) Malloy, Stacie (Ray) Nordberg, Shellie Scantamburlo, Jeff (Colleen) Malloy, and Jennie (Tim) Porter; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Marshall and Gertrude Davis, and her siblings Marvin Davis, Richard Davis, and Ruthie Kafka. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 1, 2015, from 3-7 p.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy (Between Maple and Big Beaver), 248-362-2500, with Rosary at 6 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be on Friday, January 2 - 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 3400 S. Adams Rd. (between South Blvd. and Auburn Rd), Auburn Hills. Visitation at church begins at 9:30 a.m. A celebration of life luncheon will follow in the parish hall. Rite of Committal Guardian Angel Cemetery, Rochester, Michigan. We take comfort in knowing she is now amongst the beautiful angels.
