Michael J. Addy died at his home in Clawson, December 23, 2014. He was 65 years old. Michael was born March 17, 1949, in Detroit, to MaryRita (nee Dailey) and Jerome Addy.

Michael was always the family favorite, so loved and cherished. He had a special and unique relationship with each of his daughters. Michael was the gentlest of souls.

Michael had many loves which included singing, writing and playing music, camping, the outdoors, baseball, and philosophy but especially loved his family. He was a complex man who only required simple pleasures to be happy. Michael loved life, adventure, and was an incredibly deep human being. He was the leader of a family of old souls, full of fire, and passion and was his daughter’s sage. Michael was so gifted.

His daughters describe their father as a dreamer who was happiest in front of a campfire, near the waters of the Two-Hearted River or the Saginaw Bay in Caseville. Michael was a Michigan Man, through and through. What adventures we had! Our dad was a great storyteller. He took great joy in remembering good times and sharing those memories over and over again.

Michael only saw the goodness in everyone. He was real, honest, gentle, and kind.
He had a great sense of humor, too. He was funny, and would tell the same corny jokes, on repeat. There were many special traditions and moments Michael made for his family. He fueled his daughters curiosity about the world and sparked their interest in all things. Michael loved baseball. He loved to watch, listen, and play. He also loved his neighborhood, house, yard, and garden.

Michael is survived by his daughters, Erin (Jarom) Voyles, Lisa (fiancé, Rick) Addy and Kate Addy and granddaughter, Josephine. He is also survived by his siblings, Jerry Addy, Nancy Kostecke, Tim Addy, Pam Cavanaugh, and Fran Addy. Michael is preceded in death by his former wife, Mary Beth Bertoni and sister, Kay Cooper.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Monday 9-11am. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Guardian Angels Church, 581 E. Fourteen Mile Road, Clawson, Monday at 12 noon.
