HARDEEVILLE, SC - Harry S. Hutson (JuJu), 90, longtime resident of Hardeeville, SC, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah, GA. JuJu was born on August 14, 1924 in Hardeeville, SC, and he was preceded in death by his parents, Harry S. Hutson, Sr. and Lorna McTeer Hutson; and one brother, Dona C. Hutson (D.C.).

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred Brabham Hutson; one brother, Dr. Duane G. Hutson (Olivia); two daughters, Gayle H. Morris and Lorna H. Pilgreen (John); one son, Harry Simon Hutson, III; four grandchildren, Ellen Vaz, Tracy M. Andrews, Luke Morris, and Bricen M. Urquidi; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. JuJu graduated from Hardeeville High School (Class of 1942), and proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received a Purple Heart, combat infantryman badge, Eamet campaign medal with three bronze service stars. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge including the Ardennes Forest and Rhineland. JuJu retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he served over three decades. He was a teacher and coach at Hardeeville High School during the 50s and 60s, and coached at Thomas Heyward Academy in the 70s and 80s. JuJu was a member of Hardeeville Baptist Church for over 65 years. He also served as a lay preacher for area churches in the Low Country for over 50 years. He was an avid bicyclist and dedicated his passion for riding to raising money for his favorite charities.

Visitation will be held at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams Street, Ridgeland, SC on Friday, January 2, from 4-6pm. Funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 3 at Ridgeland Baptist Church, 1448 Grays Highway, Ridgeland, SC 29936. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Purrysburg Cemetery, Hardeeville. Memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church of Hardeeville 13 Main Street, Hardeeville, SC 29927.
