A member of the FFA, the Band, the Annual Staff, was a football player and a member of the Student Council. Senior photo shown from the 1952 VRHS Golden Echo yearbook.

He and his wife Kathie, perished in a tragic car accident on a rainy day, on Interstate 20 near Austell with their young son, William Adams Green.

Dr. James Franklin Green, age 47, Mrs. Kathie Annette Adams Green, age 32 and Master William Adams Green age 18 months, all of Sylvan Drive, Villa Rica, passed away suddenly September 17, 1980 from injuries received in an automobile accident which occurred on a rainy day on Interstate 20 near Douglasville, Douglas County, Georgia.

Dr. Green was born in Las Cruses, New Mexico on March, 22, 1933, the son of the late John Guy Green and the late Mrs. Nell Marie Smith/Green. His family moved to Villa Rica, Georgia, when he was very young.

He was a graduate of Villa Rica High School.

He received his pre-med education from North Georgia College, Dahlonega, Georgia, graduating June 1956. He then entered the Medical College of Georgia, in Augusta and received his degree July, 1961.

He was a member of Theta Kappa Psi Medical Fraternity. He served his Internship/Rotating Internship in 1961-62 at Spartanburg General Hospital in South Carolina.

Dr. Green returned to Villa Rica and joined the staff of the Powell-Berry-Powell Medical Clinic and began his distinguished practice for the people of West Georgia as a general practitioner. The doctors moved into the new Villa Rica Medical Clinic in 1968, where he practiced until his death.

His appointments included: staff of Villa Rica City Hospital; courtesy staff of Parkway Regional Hospital, Lithia Springs; among others in Dahlonega, Rome and Columbus, Georgia.

He received board certification from the American Academy of Family Physicians and was appointed a Diplomat of the American College of Family Practice in 1978.

Professional affiliations were Villa Rica Lions Club and Booster Club, Director of Carrollton Federal S & L, Assoc., Physician for Special Education Olympics and Physician for Preventive Medicine, Villa Rica Textiles. He was made an honory Georgia State Patrolman in the spring of 1980.

He was a member of the First UMC of Villa Rica and served on the Finance Committee, the Pastor-Parrish Relations Committee and was a member of the Administrative Board.

Survivors include his children Judy Green of Mableton and James F. Green Jr. (Michelle) of Augusta and Jay Miles Green of Mableton; two brothers John M. Green of Bremen and William M. Green of Duxbury, Massachusetts.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, September 18, 1980 at 4 pm from the First UMC of Villa Rica. Interment followed in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. J Hoyt Thomas Funeral Home of Villa Rica was in charge of arrangements.
