Born March 30, 1909 in Radcliff, he was the son of the late Vinton and Elizabeth Woodyard Cottrill.
Mr. Cottrill was a farmer for 50 years in Vinton County. He He was also a member of Radcliff Fellowship Chapel, a lifetime member of the Wilkesville Joseph Freeman American Legion Post No. 476, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Farm Bureau Association.
Surviving are wife, Genevieve Campbell Cottrill of Morgantown, West Virginia; four daughters, Mrs. Andrew (Minnie) Wiseman of Woodville, Mrs. Charles (Pauline) Holliday of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Mrs. Arthur (Shirley) West of Route 3, Albany and Mrs. Robert (Beverly) Hamons of Woodville; two sons and daugthers-in-law, Virgil and Alice of Weare, New Hampshire and Paul and Norvella of Radcliff; fourteen grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary B. Pendleton Cottrill in January, 1983; a grandson, David Cottrill, ten brothers and sisters, Clydie, Andrew, Floyd, Carl, Earl and Mark Cottrill, Elva Morton, Ruth Swisher, Maude Holcomb and Clarice Cottrill.
Services were held at Radcliff Community Church on the afternoon of January 2, 1991, with Rev. A.B. Maloy officiating. Burial was in Radcliff Cemetery with military graveside services. Arrangements were made by the James N. Blower Funeral Home.
