John Wesley McCreary, age 84, of Old Hickory, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 at Vanco Manor. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11am in the Elmwood Cemetery with Deacon Hans Toecker officiating. Burial will follow with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield on Friday, December 2, 2015 from 4-8pm.
Mr. McCreary was born January 1, 1930 in Robertson County to the late John W. and Velma Lee Perry McCreary. He worked in Maintenance in the laundry business and was a communicant of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents Mr. McCreary is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Dickerson McCreary and sisters, Margaret Gorrell, Opal Lee McCreary, Linnie Bell Colbert and Martha Jane Huffman. Mr. McCreary is survived by his daughter, Donna Merrill of Nashville; nephew, Jerry Lee (Brenda) McCreary of Springfield; niece, Nancy Lynn Green of Springfield; and his special friend, Jan Winners, all of whom will miss him very much.
