Roberta “Bobbe” Jean Featherstone Manning of Pensacola, 81, passed away December 28, 2014. She was born February 26, 1933, in Norwood, Ohio, to Robert and Cosma Combs Featherstone. Bobbe graduated from Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the University of Miami in Coral Gables, where she majored in English. She worked for the University of Miami for many years and volunteered as a tutor in an adult literacy program. She was a wonderful mother, wife and accomplished writer. She moved to Pensacola in 2003.
Bobbe was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Carmen Weinstein.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert Manning; daughter, Rita (Donald) Meyer; sons, Dr. Dean B. (Lois) Manning and Eric Manning (Agustina) ; grandchildren, Rebecca Meyer and Kevin, Angela, Matthew and Erika Manning; sisters-in-law, Doris Kingsbery-Neuman and Beryl Fehlberg; brother-in-law, Charles Manning; and former daughter-in-law, Cynthia Gargano Manning.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Burial to follow in Barrancas National Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida or Learn to Read of Northwest Florida.
