Shirley was born on the fourth of July, 1923 to Samuel & Leah (Francoeur) Genord. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1941 and went to work as a seamstress for the H.W. Gossard Company, and later working for local clothing stores doing sewing and alterations.
Shirley was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she belonged to the sewing circle, the guild and was a former CCD teacher. She was involved with the Blue Notes Parents Club, and was a volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul, MCMCF Auxiliary and an aide at the CL Phelps School.
Shirley is survived by husband Paul, whom she married on July 13, 1946, 4 children: Steven (Marj) Turino of Minnetonka, MN, Mary (Doug) Stone of Negaunee, Francine (Stephen) Bertucci of Ishpeming and Rosanne (Ray Goyen) Turino of Ishpeming, daughter in law Ann Turino of Negaunee, 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 2 brothers in law: August Baggiore and Bob Turino, sister in law Janet Genord, along with nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was preceded in death by a son Michael, sisters: Pauline Baggiore, Marjorie Ogea and Marguerite Luokkala and a brother Samuel Genord.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:00PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming with Fr. Dan Moll officiating. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.
Shirley's family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 2:00pm until the time of service at 4:00pm.
A Luncheon will be held in the church fellowship hall following the service.
Pallbearers will be Shirley’s grandchildren: Bryan Bertucci, Hoakan Brouillette, Jacob Simula, Paul Turino, T'nia Burse and Laura Simula
