Sam Holder

U.S. Veteran Sam Holder, age 67, of Shelbina, MO, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at his residence near Shelbina.

He was born August 19, 1947, in Paris, MO, the son of Henry Ellis and Margueret L. Crain Holder. On May 2, 1970, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Sue Painter. She survives . Sam is also survived by three children, Mike Holder and wife Tory of Bush, LA, Cindy Miller and husband Jeff of Shelbyville, MO and Mark Holder of Shelbina, MO; five grandchildren and two sisters, Mary Curtright and husband Shelby of Paris, MO and Catherine Wienhoff and husband Bob of Hannibal, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother, Harold Eugene Holder.

Sam was a 1965 graduate of Shelbina High School and was a Christian by faith. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a grain and livestock farmer in Monroe County and enjoyed hunting and fishing and the outdoors. Sam loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO, with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home in Shelbina on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the Donor’s Choice.
