A Requiem Mass for Florence Cecile Normand Scott of Cottonport will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 12pm at St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church in Cottonport with Fr. Jose Robles Sanchez officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 beginning at 9am until 12pm at the St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church in Cottonport. Entombment will follow services at St. Mary’s No. 2 Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escudé Funeral Home.

Florence Normand peacefully entered eternal life at 10:28pm on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Bayou Vista Community Care Center in Bunkie.

Flo, a lifelong resident of Cottonport, was born on March 11, 1932. Following graduation from Cottonport High School in 1950, she began her profession career working in the Marksville law offices of Clyde Bennett and Chester Coco. She then served as a Kindergarten teacher at St. Mary’s Assumption School in Cottonport and as a volunteer and admissions clerk at Bunkie General Hospital. In the early 1980s, she served as secretary at St. Joseph’s High School in Plaucheville followed by serving numerous years as a substitute teacher in the Avoyelles Parish School System. Her last professional appointment was as a receptionist with the Tunica Biloxi Indians of Louisiana in Marksville from 1998 until 2001.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, William Francis Scott, Jr. of Havana, Cuba and her parents, Cylton G. Normand, Jr. & Alma Cappel Normand.

Survivors include four children: William F. “Scotty” Scott, III and Becky (Michel) of Cottonport, Cynthia M. Scott Gauthier & David of Cottonport, Luis J. Scott & Julie (Ortego) of Youngsville, and Stephen C. Scott of Cottonport; one brother, Stephen R. “Buddy” Normand and one sister, Claudia “Clutch” Normand, both of Cottonport; five grandchildren: Brandon, Brady, William “Billy”, Mallory, and Meghan; one great-grandchild, Lillian; and ten nieces & nephews.
