Lee A. Barnes, 70, Johnson City, went home to be with his heavenly father December 23, 2014 with his family by his side, after a long battle with cancer.

He was the son of the late Ernest and Hazel Rogers Barnes. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his two brothers: Donald and James “Mack” Barnes; four sisters: Jane Ward, Zona Rigsby, Betty Smith, and Imogene Crum.

Lee retired in 2007 after forty years working at S.B. White Mechanical Contractor’s.

He was a loving Husband, Daddy and Papaw. He enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing, hunting, and Nascar Racing. Lee attended True Gospel Freewill Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of forty nine years: Brenda Carr Barnes; three daughters: Laurie Cunningham, Brenda McGuire and husband Robbie, Rhonda Garland and husband Kevin; three grandchildren: Caleb Garland, Kelsey McGuire, and Jordan Cunningham; brother: Ronnie Barnes and wife Connie; sister: Mary Tate and husband Melvin; two brother-in-laws: James Carr and wife Judy, and James Adams; sister-in-laws: Janice Hardin, Locky Carr, and Martha Carr; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Brown and Christy Ranken for their many years of medical care, and Dr. Devoprin Jaishankar and staff at the Regional Cancer Center.

The family requests the honor of your presence to Celebrate the Life of Lee A. Barnes on Saturday at 7:30 PM in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services with Reverend Estel Williams and Reverend Richard Shepard II officiating. The family will greet guests to share memories from 5:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home. A Graveside and Committal service will be held in Carr Cemetery on Sunday at 3:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Kevin Garland, Robbie McGuire, Caleb Garland, Jordan Cunningham, Terry Ward, and Rev. Richard Shephard II. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home by 2:15 on Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.
