Arnold John Abel was called home by his Savior Sunday.
He was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Albert and Dorthea (Kehm) Abel. Arnold Abel was a pastor in Iowa, Colorado, Utah and Oregon.
In *1939 [sic] [1940], he married Genevieve Paap. Genevieve died in 1985.
In 1987, he married Roberta Babbidge.
Arnold is survived by wife Roberta Abel; children Kristie and husband Arthur Werfelmann, Karen and husband Mike Bischopink and Kit and wife Aurora Abel; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister Marcella Rudolph. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Karl and John.
Pastor Abel will be remembered by the many lives he touched over his 67 years in the ministry.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Private burial will take place at Willamette Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church audio/video fund or Camp Serene.
