CLINTWOOD, Va. Alfred Carl (George) Rose, 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Rose was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and was retired from the Dickenson County School Board. He became a member of Little Sarah Old Regular Baptist Church on May 18, 1980 and had served as clerk since August 15, 1998. Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Hazel Rose. Survivors include his devoted wife of 49 years, Charlotte Rose; son, Terry Bascom Raines and wife Rose of Longwood, Florida; two granddaughters, Larissa Raines and Krista Rose Raines of Longwood, Florida; one sister, Patsy Baker and husband, Linza, of Clintwood; four brothers, Bill Rose and wife, Fern, Harold Rose and wife, Ann, Glennis Rose and wife, Delana, all of Clintwood, and Jack Rose of Rogersville, Tennessee. Visitation will be Sunday, December 28, 2014, beginning at 5 p.m. in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel. A service will be held at 7 p.m. with Larry Puckett, Robert Kelly and Jimmy Dale Sanders officiating. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 29th, 11 a.m. with Roger Coleman, Ralph Mullins, Mark Justus, Earl Dean Yates and Elmer Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery on Rose Ridge. Pallbearers are Heath Paul Ratliff, Nathan Rose, Brady Rose, Brandon Baker, Jason Dingus, Matthew Dingus, Carroll Greene, Scott Boyd and Clifton Phipps.
