Sgt. E5 United States Army Vietnam 1967 - 1972 Henry Clayton Stepp, Sr., age 72, of Bristol, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 26, 2014, at the VA Nursing Home in Mountain Home, Tenn. He was born December 11, 1942, in Bristol, Va., a son of the late Harry A. and Mary B. Smeltzer Stepp. Henry served his country during the Vietnam Era, completing two tours of duty in Vietnam. He served honorably and volunteered for his country, when others were burning their draft cards. Henry was a good husband and wonderful father and grandfather. For 32 years he supported his family as a professional OTR truck driver and was very proud of his career and safety record. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Odis Hickman, U.S. Army, and his only grandson, James Matthew Combs. He leaves behind a bereaved and loving family that he loved so much. His loving wife of 45 years, Nancy L. Jones Stepp; son, Henry C. Stepp Jr. and wife. Carol, Stanley Combs and wife. Sabrina; daughter, Sherry L. Mayne and husband, Lonny; five beautiful granddaughters, Brandi, Krista, Heather, Sarah and Madison; great-grandson and his little buddy, Aiden and his newest great-grandson, Deacon; and soon to be his first great-granddaughter; brother-in-law, Jack Jones; sister-in-law, Bunny Mutter and husband, Ray; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tennessee, with Chaplain Gary Knapp officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2014, at Weaver Funeral Home. Bristol VFW Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors and serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Stanley, Fred Malone, Nat Baker and Burl Sink. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Wounded Warriors Project, 223 Rosa L.
