Urith Lawrence Pope, twin daughter of Rep. Patrick Hamilton (1806-41) and Sarah Lawrence Brown Pope (1810-84), was born in Louisville. She married in 1851, her 2nd cousin, Joshua Fry Lawrence (1827-93), son of Elias Dorsey (-1892) and Mary Ann Peachy Fry Lawrence (1807-85). He was a member of the Kentucky Legislature, 1865-69, inspector of oils for Louisville and Jefferson County, 1882-93, and president of the Kentucky Fish and Game Club. They lived at Westthorpe near Middletown, Ky. and six children were Sarah Pope (c1854-84); Patrick H. Pope (1860-62); Thomas Elias (1858-1929); Mary Lewis Green (c1863-1935); Betty Hamilton Pope (c1870-1962) who married Lucien May Adkins (1858-1921), of NYC; and Julia Letitia Lawrence (c1872-1952) who married Lewis Shedd, of Jamestown, N.Y.

Thomas Elias Lawrence (1858-1929) married in 1885, Elizabeth Gilson (1868-1928). Four daughters were Elizabeth Whiting (1888-1982), Urith Pope (1890), Mary Lewis Green (1894-1996), and Julia Letitia Lawrence (1901-71).
