Mitchell Charles Edwards passed away unexpectedly at his home in Alabaster.

From the Shelby County Reporter, Dec. 19, 2014:

“Mitch was a graduate of Thompson High School and the University of Montevallo. He was a past Chapter President and past Southeast District Chair of the Public Relations Society of America. He was Sr. Vice President of Marketing, Sales, and Business Development at High Ground Solutions. Prior to that, he was the Director of Communications for the State Department of Education.

Mitch was the much cherished son of Jet and Clarence Edwards who taught him to love Jesus and indulged his quirkiest whims. How quirky, you ask? His request for a Napoléon Bonaparte costume was met with a quick stitch by Jet and a salute from Clarence as Mitch made his way out the door to school – on a day not designated for dress up.

A born leader, even out of Jet’s homemade uniform, Mitch achieved much success in his short life. On the stage and in the boardroom, Mitch was a mover and shaker with many accolades. The most prized role on his resume, however, was Dad.

To know Mitch was to love him as many friends and family can attest. We will miss his talent, quick wit and great hair.”

Mitch was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Jet Edwards. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, 2 stepchildren, sister, 2 aunts, and his loving Jack Russell terrier, Rowdy.

Visitation and services were held Dec. 23 at Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo.
