Janet Ann Kennedy Bowers, age 86, of Springfield, formerly of Nokomis, died on December 27, at St. John’s Hospital. She was born in Decatur, IL, daughter of George and Alvinah Bechtel Kennedy, both deceased. Janet married Frederick M. Bowers on February 8, 1948 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Nokomis, IL. Fred died suddenly on December 20, 2009. Surviving are two daughters, Dara(Bill) Voss and Susa (Dale) Sachtleben, both of Springfield. There are four grandchildren, Benjamin Schuffert, Kara(David) Brotherton, Chris Sachtleben, Rebecca(Quentin) Knobloch. There are three step grandchildren Daniel, Kelly, and Rebecca. Also surviving are a great grandson, Arlo, four step great grandchildren-Jacob, Lara, Reagan, and Madison, and a sister-in-law Patricia Bowers. Janet was preceded in death by brothers George and Gerald Kennedy.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, Nokomis, with visitation from 10 to 11 Tuesday. Burial will be in Nokomis Cemetery.
