Harry Monroe Murphy, 67, of Kenna passed away December 14, 2014 at Charleston Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
He was born February 20, 1947 at Newton, WV, a son of the late Monroe and Ocie Murphy. While attending Wirt County High School, Harry was a four year letterman in basketball and baseball. He was an avid fisherman, loving husband, father, brother and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all whom loved and knew him. He retired from Constellium after 30 years of service as a Machinist. Harry was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Ripley Masonic Lodge #16, AF&AM. Harry was a Christian by faith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Cathy Golden Murphy; a son Tim Murphy of Columbus, Ohio; daughter Amanda (Jeremy) Sigley of Summersville; step daughter Charmin McCarty of Ripley; step-son T.J. Cunningham of Ripley; five grandchildren, Jennifer Murphy, Sandra Murphy, Quincy Sigley, Corey Sigley and Kaitlin Johnson; sisters Bell (Carl) White, Ellen (Boyd) Kessell, Linda (Carl) Ellison, Naomi Lockhart and Sue Harrison; brothers Lee Roy (Loretta) Murphy and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Harry’s sister Bell for her loving care she has given to him for the past 10 months. Also a special thank you to their wonderful neighbors and friends that were always there for Harry and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Dee Rhodes officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites by Ripley Lodge #16 will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Roane County. . Friends may call form 11 am until time of service (2:00 pm) Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations in memory of Harry may be made to the Community Food Pantry, c/o Calvary United Methodist Church, 205 Court St., Ripley, WV 25271
