Carolyn Edith Virtue was born to Marion and Raymond Virtue in Mansfield, OH on April 8, 1931 into a family of two older siblings, Leila and Albert.

The five of them lived on an old farm, but got along well as a family, taking care of each other through the Great Depression Era. Her father got a different job when Carolyn was four so they moved into town in Moundsville, West Virginia. Carolyn remembered her growing up years with her family as a time of making friends easily and enjoying school and eventually graduated from Moundsville High School in 1949.

She attended Marshall College to get her teaching degree in elementary education, followed by a Masters Degree in teaching at Ohio State University. It was here that she met her future husband Abdulmuniem Abdallah, an easygoing man who loved to laugh. The two eventually married in Columbus Ohio in 1965, and shortly after moved to Zionsville Indiana when Abdul got a job at Dow Chemical Co. Here in Zionsville,

Abdul and Carolyn adopted Anna, and then Amy a few years later. Carolyn taught school for a few years, but then took time off to raise her two girls. As the girls got older, Carolyn eventually returned to teaching, and then enjoyed her retirement years with her husband traveling and spending time with friends.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Leila McGovern, and her brother Albert Virtue.

She is survived by daughters Anna Ellis (Wayne Ellis and Michael and Aliya) and Amy Williamson (Kilby Williamson and Scarlett and Darby), nephew, Jay Virtue of St Louis, nephew, Thomas Virtue of Jacksonville, Florida, and niece, Kate Long of Pennsylvania.
