Kay L. Sanders, 82 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, MO 64052. Burial with full military honors will follow in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Tuesday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society. Kay was born November 27, 1932 in Kansas City, KS to David K. and Ella Marie (Chapman) Sanders. He proudly served in the US Navy for 26 years until he retired in 1989. He later worked for the Kansas City, MO Post Office for over 10 years. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Donna of the home; a daughter, Lisa Scovel and husband Steven of Independence, MO; 2 sons, David Sanders and wife Krista of Lawrence, KS and Phillip Sanders and wife Brenda of Leawood, KS; 8 grandchildren, Clint, Eric, Abijah, Jakob, Malachi, Rachel, Kirk Wood and Kylie Owens and 10 great grandchildren.
