Gilbert Hoover was born in Thompson, Delaware County, Ohio to William J. Hoover and Elizabeth Dilsaver. He was their first born and listed in the 1860 & 1870 US Federal censuses as Jacob and then as Gilbert when he was 21 and still living in his parents home in Thompson. He was 12 years old on the 1870 census, so he was likely born in 1858/9.

Gilbert married Sarah "Sadie" Aller in Delaware County on February 23, 1881. I believe her parents are Corporal Alexander Aller and Louisa Sherman of Etna Green, Kosciusko, Indiana just west of Warsaw. There is a record of his death in Warsaw, Kosciusko County, Indiana that was recorded by it's City Health Office March 17, 1901, but that is likely a date some period of time after his actual death. It states that Gilbert was 42 years old at his death which fits with the Gilbert Hoover I believe him to be.

With the 1890 census no longer existing, I was otherwise unable to verify him and his family living in Kosciusko County, but came across a public member story on Ancestry.com shared by a descendant of his daughter Clara Belle Hoover Linke. It states:

"My Husband's Grandmother was Clarabelle. What we know about Clarabelle is that she was born in Ohio and her mother died, maybe in childbirth and her father was so distraught that he killed himself. Clarabelle and her sister [Emma Jane Hoover Meeker] were put on the orphan train and headed west. Clarabelle was raised by John Baily and his wife. Her sister was adopted by a family in Larned, Kansas. We have tried to located the Orphan train that she rode on but to date we haven't had any luck. She met and married Ernest Linke in Chase and raised her 5 sons and one daughter and they moved to Ellinwood, Kansas."

Another member responds " Cheryl, Her dad's name was Jacob Gilbert Hoover born in 1859. Sister's name was Emma Jane Hoover Meeker. They lived in Larned, Kansas. I'm not sure what her adopted last name was but I understand they adopted her. We haven't been able to locate Clarabelle's mother and father's death date. I think as far as we know the sisters didn't experience any bad situations on the orphan train and went into loving homes. Roberta"

All of this together along with Gilbert Hoover, Sarah Hoover, and Infant Hoover in this Warsaw cemetery with the same year of death leads me to believe that these are Clara Belle Hoover Linke's and Emma Jane Hoover (Strader) Meeker's parents and sibling.

Besides the unnamed infant, I've encountered suggestions that Clara and Emma had other siblings named Hermie (1886-1896), Wm. H., Lulu Jane, and Celestial, but I have as yet been unable to confirm any of that or where they are buried due to the lack of the 1890 census. I thought that I'd put that out there in case anyone else knows about these possible siblings.
