Robert Alwyn (Corky) Barbour, 78, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Medical University of South Carolina.
He was born in Martinsville and was a son of the late Elgie James and Elsie Mae Poovey Barbour.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Louise Samuel Barbour; brothers, E. James Barbour Jr. and Richard K. Barbour and infant son, Richard Clay Barbour.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and worked at DuPont in Martinsville for close to 50 years.
Surviving are four daughters, Jacki B. Pack of Stuart, Jeanne B. Scott of Dry Fork, Joyce B. Lippens of Ruckersville and Kathi Jo Price of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one son, Robert Michael Barbour of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; one sister, Patsy B. Nickleston of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Entombment was in Hillcrest Mausoleum.
