Lucy was the first of 14 children born to Lester Nathan Hash and Dina Mae "Donnie" (Bailey) Hash. Lester and Dina were married in 1924. Their children in birth order were Lucy Viola, William, Lillie Lida, Okie, Ada, Glen Dale, Jennie Joan, Letcher Dean "John", Betty, Mary E., Leonard, Thomas "Rick", Brenda and Raymond "Max" Hash.

Lucy married James M. "Gene" Hall. They had 6 children. Their names were James W., Charles J. "Bunk", Kenneth R., Johnny L., Richard D. and Jack Dale Hall.

Sugar Grove, Virginia: Lucy Viola Hall, age, 89 died, Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Francis Marion Manor, Marion, Virginia.
Mrs. Hall was born August 21, 1925 in Grayson County, Virginia, the oldest of fourteen children. She was an amazing mother who took her responsibilities very seriously. She gifted her sons by instilling them with the desire to treat others with respect, dignity and fairness. She made sure that her sons were capable of cooking, cleaning as well as sewing. Everyone loved her and many came to her for advice from her wise generation. She loved people and would generously give of herself to help others, especially helping elderly to be able to remain in their homes as long as possible. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. “Gene” Hall; son, Charles J. “Bunk” Hall; two grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Hall is survived by five sons, James W. Hall, Toms Brook, Virginia, Kenneth R. Hall of Sugar Grove, Virginia, Johnny L. Hall of Acton, California, Richard D. Hall of Atkins, Virginia and Jackey D. Hall of Marion, Virginia; four sisters Lidea Parks of Maryland, Joanne Parks, Betty Daniels and Brenda King, all of Marion, Virginia; four brothers, Letcher Dean Hash of Sugar Grove, Virginia, Leonard Hash of Marion, Virginia, Rick Hash of Maryland and Max Hash of Marion, Virginia; eleven grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hall will be greatly missed by her sons and family as well as all others that knew her.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Billy Gwinn officiating. Burial will follow in Slemp Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
