John Murphy Myatt, Sr., age 88, of Nashville, passed away on December 23, 2014. John was born in Dickson, Tennessee on April 19, 1926. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend.

His family recalls that John was a wonderful man, strong in both body and spirit. Through all of his recent ailments, John always had a smile and a positive attitude. He owned and operated his own semi-truck, and was a long-haul trucker for more than 20 years. Being an avid sports fan - especially football and Atlanta Braves baseball - John never missed a chance to see a game...any game. If he had a route to take to Milwaukee, he would find a way to go to a Brewers game while he was there. John's wife of 40 years, Linda, would sometimes accompany him on these long-haul trips and the two managed to see much of the country in their years together.

John is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his sons, John M. Myatt, Jr. (Kelly) and Timothy T. Myatt; his grandchildren, John J. Myatt, Amanda L. Thomas (Kyle), and Cameron M. Myatt; and his great-grandchildren, Cade, Gabby, and Abby.

John's family will receive friends and visitors on Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 10:00am until 12:00pm, with a Rosary Service to be held at 11:30am. Father Tomy Joseph will lead a Celebration of Life and Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 12:00pm. Entombment will follow in the Serenity Chapel Mausoleum of Historic Spring Hill Cemetery, with family members serving as pallbearers.
