Annabelle Mary Louise (Hampshire) Shumway was born 11/26/1930 in Bonnots Mill, MO. She died 12/19/2014 in Gilbert, AZ. She was the only child of Edward Wilson Hampshire and Louise Helen Bonnot. She moved to Winslow and Graduated from Winslow High School, and in 1945 was the last "Harvey Girl" hired. She later worked as a Telephone operator. She married Rex P. Shumway in 1954. She made up for the loss of her own mother by being a loving and caring mother to not only her own children, but also to many others. She was known as a Mother to All. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully, holding every calling from Relief Society President to Primary Teacher. She loved the Blazer Scouts. She and Rex served a mission for the Church in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They moved to Mesa in 1991. She loved people, dancing, making doll clothes, country music, family, crocheting, friends, puzzles, the temple, house plants, pets, quilting, the USA, games, canning, chicken foot, giving service, reading, baking cookies making the delicious "Hot Waffles" for which was famous, zany jokes, trains, her children, and Rex. Annabelle is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Rex P. Shumway, and is survived by her 6 children: Jim, Jon (Liz) Louise (Bob), Rex (Mary), Paul (Lorna), and Mary (Joel), and by her 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be held Friday evening 12/26/14 from 6-8 pm, Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park, 400 S. Power Rd in Mesa. Funeral Services will be held on 27 December 2014 at 2 pm, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dana Ranch Ward, 1266 S. 32nd St. Mesa, AZ. Interment will be on 29 December 2014, 11:00 am, Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery, 401 W. Center St. Taylor, AZ. She is known for her mothering advice: "Bake more cookies; read more stories."
