Jo Kay (Underwood) Berryman, 72 year old Shawnee, Oklahoma resident and former Seminole County resident passed from this life on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. She was born April 1, 1942 in Claremore, Oklahoma to parents Tecumseh Underwood and Nagie (Harjo) Underwood.

Jo attended Strother Schools and went on to work for the Indian Health Services for 24 years as an Equal Opportunity Specialist until her retirement. She was also a proud member of both the Chickasaw and Seminole Nations of Oklahoma.

Jo attended the Indian Nation Church and North Rock Creek Church.

Jo married James Dwight Berryman, he preceded her in death in 2002.

Survivors include three sons, Timothy Berryman of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Scotty Berryman of Moore, Oklahoma, Steve Haney of Shawnee, Oklahoma; four daughters, Shelly Hall of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Roberta Haney of Vinita, Oklahoma, Andrea Henderson of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Cydney Wood of Moore, Oklahoma; two brothers, Ted Underwood of Seminole, Oklahoma, Tip Underwood of Maud, Oklahoma; three sisters, Donna White Buffalo of Seling, Oklahoma, Rhonda Underwood of Seminole, Oklahoma, Pam Yahola of Ada, Oklahoma; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Jo is preceded in death by her parents, Tecumseh and Nagie Underwood; one son, Kelly Haney; three brothers, Willie Bond Underwood, Victor Lee Underwood, Matthew Nathaniel Underwood; one sister, Tywana Underwood; and one granddaughter, Jamie Franks.

A wake service is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2014 at North Rock Creek Indian Assembly of God Church located at 42507 Garretts Lake Road in Shawnee, Oklahoma with Rev. Thomas Morris officiating the service. Interment will follow at the Harjo Family Cemetery located east of Little, Oklahoma.
