Jean A. Vaughn, 81, Altoona, died November 27, 2014, at UPMC Altoona.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Joseph F. and Olive Mae (McCloskey) Vaughn.

Surviving is her nephew, Joseph Vaughn of League City, Texas.

Jean was a 1953 graduate of Altoona High School. She retired as an operator for Bell Telephone after many years of service. She was a lifetime member of Fairview United Methodist Church, Altoona, where she served as lay leader and chairperson of the worship committee for many years. She was also the person responsible for the altar flowers each Sunday, which she made herself, and the flowers had to be real, not artificial. She was involved in many of the business activities of the church, and it was important to her that every member got their new church calendar each year.

Jean was a past board member of the Altoona Symphony Orchestra and held various offices in the Altoona Symphony League for many years, currently serving on the fundraising committee.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Fairview United Methodist Church, 2214 Fifth St., Altoona, Pastor Jason Schwartzman officiating. Inurnment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
