Gottlob F. Schwarz came to Baltimore with his mother, Rosine Schwarz, and three sisters in 1855, from an area called Hohenacker, in Wuerttemburg. He married Margaretha Blum, and became a "market gardener" (hauling stoop crops to markets in the city) in the since-defunct village of Georgetown, on Belair Road. We believe the property was on Beliar Road, near Clifton Park and Erdman Avenue, but we are not sure.

Their children were William Frederick Schwarz, John Christian Schwarz, Wilhelmine Friederike Schwarz Bauer, and Caroline Schwarz Fischer.
