He enlisted in June of 1940 and went overseas the same year.
Son of Sam and Gertie Gaskin; and the husband of Mary Gaskin of Montreal ... they had a daughter.

He is commemorated on page 517 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance
His brother Private Donald Gaskin was also killed in action on Aug. 8, 1944 and is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery in Normandy. Another brother Private William Gaskin who served with the R.C.A. in Italy made it home safely.
