One of a seven man crew that took off at 21:04 from RAF Spilsby, Lincolnshire on the 11th of September, 1944, in a Avro - Lancaster I - S/No. LM261 for a bombing raid on Darnstadt, South West Germany.
After take off nothing further was heard and the aircraft was reported as missing, it was later established that the aircraft, had been shot down by a Flak Battery near the target.
