In Memory of
Jo Ann Hutchins Long, 79 of the Lakemont community passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014 at her daughters’ house with her family at her side.
She was born in Orangeburg, SC and was the daughter of the late John David Hutchins and Juanita Bolin Hutchins.
She was also preceded in death by her husband James Dewey Long Sr. and one daughter Carole Lynn Dean.
Mrs. Long is survived by one son James Dewey “Jimmy” Long Jr.; one daughter Pam Garner who is married to Lamar Garner also known as “Bayby” both children reside in Lakemont, GA.; one son-in law Gary Dean and wife Sheryl of Marietta, Georgia; four Grandchildren Holly Bates, Russell Garner, Jessica Taylor, and Beth Ann Dean; three great grandchildren Sadie Marie Bates, Christian Vasquez, Abigail Garner and one great great-grandchild Gabriel Bates.
Mrs. Long was a R.N. and worked in the health care industry for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother. She loved all people and missions were very important to her. She was a member at Flat Creek Baptist Church and very involved with WMU. She was a founding member of Community Pantry in Rabun County and worked with the food bank in Flat Creek for many years. She and her husband were camp hosts at Lake Rabun Campground for over ten years and during that time started the Church services at the campground.
The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at Flat Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Anthony Powers and Rev. Avery Lawrence will be officiating the service burial will follow in the church cemetery.
