Belfast News-Letter - Tuesday 19 March 1867, p3:
Gilborne – March 11, at Inverary (Inverury), Aberdeenshire, Captain Charles Gilborne, late of the 69th Regt, and Adjutant Aberdeenshire Rifle Volunteers.

Aberdeen Journal - Wednesday 20 March 1867, p4:
Death of Captain Gilborne —
This gentleman died at Inverurie on Tuesday morning last week. He had been ailing for some time back, but his death, we hear, was rather unexpected. Captain Gilborne joined the 1st Administrative Battalion Aberdeenshire Rifle Volunteers in the year 1863, and from that time he discharged the duties of Adjutant till he resigned in July last, on account of failing health. He served with his regiment abroad, and, was in the Crimea. The intelligence of his death was received by the volunteers with no small degree of sorrow. He was highly respected in his professional capacity; in private he was rather of a retiring disposition, but exceedingly kind hearted. Captain Gilborne was a native of Ireland, and unmarried.
