Odell is survived by three daughters, Avery Joplin and husband Bill, Freddie Thompson and husband Ed, Mollie Payne and husband Kelly; numerous grandchildren and one great grandchild; twin brother Marcel Harrison and wife Rena; sisters Velma Thompson of Clarksville, TN and Justin Crabtree and husband Bob of Austin, TX; many nieces and nephews; He also leaves behind a loving companion, Mary Dee Nowlin.
Odell graduated from Cisco High School in the spring of 1938. He received a BS Degree from Texas Wesleyan University and a Masters Degree from Texas Christian University. He served in the Army where he received the Purple Heart, three Battle Stars and a Presidential Citation. He began his coaching career in Summerville, TX. He moved to Pasadena, TX in 1957 where he coached at Jackson Jr. High, San Jacinto Jr. High, and Sam Rayburn High School. He retired from Sam Rayburn High School in 1987.
Odell also worked for the City of Pasadena at Red Bluff Pool for many years. Odell is a member of South Main Baptist Church and the Maverick Sunday School Class. He is also a member of the Masonic Archives Lodge of Pasadena and the Scottish Rite of Houston.
Odell is preceded in death by wife Jayne Newland Harrison; brothers Cullen, Joe, LB, Wilbert and John; sister Sue
