TRENTON | James Prentice Walston, 76, of Trenton passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014. Mr. Walston was born in Wayne County to the late Paul Elbert Walston and Tinnie Smith Walston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Brooks Walston; brother-in-law, Clarence Allen Grady; and mother-in-law, Jean Stocks Brooks of Kinston. Mr. Walston was the owner of Yards Plus Landscaping. He managed Jenkins Gas Company for over 14 years, was a member of the Pollocksville and Trenton Fire Departments, and Scout Master of Troop 109 in Trenton. He also served his Country with the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his sons, Larry Eugene Walston of Trenton and Garry Paul Walston of Wake Forest; grandson, Paul Brooks Walston of Trenton; sister, Delia "Dee" Rose Grady of Kinston; and brother, Donald Lee Walston and wife Helen Marie of Kinston. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at the funeral home with Chaplain Allen Ham officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Trenton City Cemetery.
