He was born May 28, 1940 to Ora and Dora Franklin in Cartwright, Ky. Roy served in the Navy from 1958 to 1962, and then as a Champaign police officer from 1970 to 1974. He married Geraldine Frances in 1958, and they had four children, Ronald, Cheryl Williams, Donald and Marilyn Franklin. Through the years, he owned Franklin Detective Agency and was a security guard at Cap and Gown, and then he later became owner of Russ Appliance, repairing appliances for loyal customers.
In heaven, he will join his parents and a sister, Janet Brownfield, while on Earth he will be missed by family and friends, especially by his sister, Audra White.
