Ms. Ellen Cox, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed from this life on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at the McCreary Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pine Knot, Kentucky. She had attained the age of 88 years, 9 months and 14 days.
Ms. Cox was born in New Liberty, Kentucky, on March 6, 1926, to the late Andy and Nola (Davenport) Martin. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Elmer L. Cox, three sons; Bob Cox, Ray Cox, Nat Cox, two infant daughters; Rachel Cox and Nora Cox, three sisters; Emily Sergeant, Ethel White, Lizzie Maxey, five brothers; Leslie Martin, Leonard Martin, Wilburn Martin, Robert Martin and Lee Martin and some infant brothers and sisters.
Surviving family include five daughters; Judy (and Darrell) Bryant, Pine Knot; Zora Bryant, Somerset; Dora (Johnny) Bryant, Pine Knot, Christine (and Randy) Scalf, Corbin, Louise Perry, Georgia, six sons; Roy (and Sherry) Cox, New Liberty, KY; Andrew (and Sue) Cox, Canada Town, Lee Cox, Kingtown, David Cox, New Liberty; Charles Cox, Williamsburg and Roger Cox, Pine Knot. She has one surviving sister; Aggie Stephens of Pine Knot and two daughters-in-law; Betty Cox of New Liberty and Linda Cox of Williamsburg. She was blessed with 28 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ellen was a homemaker and member of the Sandhill Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and being with her family whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014, at 11:00 am in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Fultz officiating. She will be laid to rest at the New Liberty Cemetery in Pine Knot, Kentucky. Visitation will be Friday from 6 – 9p.m. at the funeral home.
