Sarah Mae Weatherly Barrett, age 101, a native of Attala County and longtime resident of Philadelphia, died on Sunday, December 21 in Brewton, Alabama after a brief illness. Mrs. Barrett was born July 7, 1913, the eldest daughter of J.M. "Boss" Weatherly and Ludie Lillian Stephens of Attala County. She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Betty Clark Weatherly and Amy Kathryn Weatherly and her husband, Clement Gaston Barrett of Philadelphia.

Mrs. Barrett was a graduate of Kosciusko High School and MSCW (Mississippi University for Women). She was a teacher in Neshoba County schools including Zephyr Hill, Linwood, Bloomo, and Neshoba Central. She was active in the Retired Teacher's Association and Trinity Baptist Church.

Mrs. Barrett is survived by her children, Sarah Rebecca Everage (Charles) of Brewton, Alabama, Gaston Weatherly Barrett (Lisa) of Philadelphia and Rachel Jo Parker of Brandon. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Sarah Mae Weatherly Barrett will be announced by McClain-Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia, Mississippi.

Pall Bearers are Jay Brian Parker, Dr. Lee Thompson, Charles Wesley Everage, Jr., Lee Walton Thompson Jr., Harrison McNeil Thompson, Barrett Weatherly Thompson, the Rev. Rob Armstrong, and Joseph (Son) Williamson.
