Public servant. Served at the local level as Postmaster in Platteville, Colorado from 1914 to 1922, and then Weld County (Colorado) assessor from 1922 to 1932. From 1933 to 1967, Mr. Bedford was elected and served as state treasurer (1933-1935; 1937-1939; 1941-1943; 1945-1947; 1949-1951; 1953-1955; 1957-1959; 1963-1967) and as state auditor (1935-1937; 1939-1941; 1947-1949; 1951-1953; 1955-1957, and 1959-1963). His last election bid for State Treasurer ended in defeat in 1966, losing to Republican Virginia Blue (1910-1970). Mr. Bedford ran for governor in 1942 as a Democrat, losing to John Vivian. Resided at 2901 S. Ogden in Englewood, Colorado.
