Roy W. Karkow, 78, of 1017 S. 11th St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Monday morning, January 19, following a massive heart attack.

Private family services were 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Jens Funeral Home and11 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Theodore J. Hendricks officiated and burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. 

Mr. Karkow was born July 22, 1902, at Manitowoc, son of the late Lawrence and Mary Thomas Karkow. He attended schools in Manitowoc and married Irene Krippner Oct. 26, 1926, at Clarks Mills. The couple resided in Manitowoc. Prior to his retirement in 1968, he had been employed 50 years with Mirro Corporation. Most of that time was spent in management. He was a charter member of Mirro Management Club and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. 

Survivors include his wife, Irene, a daughter and son-in-law, Natalie and Thomas Girard of Shorewood, Wis.; three granddaughters, Barbara Girard of Rockford, Ill., and Denise and Mary Girard at home and a sister, Clara Hastreiter of Manitowoc. A granddaughter, Michelle, preceded him in death Jan. 9, 1981. A brother also preceded him in death.

Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, was in charge of arrangements.
