Mr. Carter was a member of the First Christian Church, Elizabethton. He retired as a captain of the Elizabethton Fire Department, where he served as city fire inspector. He was a former part-time employee of Tetrick Funeral Home and Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home.
Mr. Carter was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II, where he served in grave registration. He was the recipient of three purple hearts.
He was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge No. 238 F&AM, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, the York Rite Bodies, Jericho Shrine Temple, and a member of the Legion of Honor.
Funeral services for Bounce Carter, 89, were conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home.
The Masonic service was conducted by Dashiell Masonic Lodge No. 238 F&AM, following the funeral service.
Graveside service and interment weree held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2002, in Happy Valley Memorial Park.
